Just over a week ago French artist C215 returned to London to bombard several of his artworks. He visited Hackney Wick, Hackney Road, Cargo and Shoreditch. Today I went on a hunt for his new artworks and luckily enough I found the ones I was hunting for.
I think this lady looks like Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
My faves the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are to release a brand new album this spring called It's Blitz. I am excited and hoping for them to do a gig in Europe land soon, as I desperately need a new bag*.
* They have very cool bags as their merchandise. Well, I hope they still have them on their next tour.
The doors of The End have then finally shut. How strange it is to feel sad that a club you have been so many times is no more. How much I always loved entering the building, walk down the stairs, get up again to hang my coat, go down again to get a drink and have an immense time. Many Monday nights, some Saturday nights and a few random other nights were spend at The End and every time it felt like home. For me The End also was a club I did not mind going alone too. The bit behind the main room DJ booth and the steps that lead to the main room were my territory. I loved being in one of those two territories to oversee the party, at least that's how it felt like.
The closure of The End is not only an end, but for me personally also a beginning of a new chapter in my life. In less than six months London will be no more my city. I can not wait to bring all those good memories that I have gathered at The End with me into my new chapter. Those who know me well, know how much I loved going to Trash and that it unofficially was a reason to make the move to London. The last ever Trash (link) was therefore a very precious night. Before I moved to London I always made sure that whenever I visited this wonderful city, I stayed until Tuesday.
The first time I visited The End on a Saturday was for Tiga's Sexor album launch, as part of Bugged Out. (link) The first thing I noticed was that the main room also had a bar, as on Mondays half of the main room was closed. Ever since then Bugged Out was on my list of club nights to visit. Even though Bugged Out was on a Saturday, it still felt like the Monday good times. Yes, it was The End itself that made both Saturday and Monday so so much fun.
Then there was Durrr. (link) Although I unfortunately never stayed till the end, Durrr was good enough to make an exception for and come out on a Monday, hear some live music, hang out a bit and go home with a satisfied smile on my face. The most memorable Durrr night was when The Mystery Jets played their '21' album in its entire. A band that I adore so much and I get to see them in my favourite club? Wow!! I take my hat off for Durrr to fill in the Trash gap so perfectly on Mondays.
When I heard about The End closing down all those good memories wandered in my head with a slight sadness. I could have gone to the last Durrr at The End, but I decided not to, as there can only be one farewell. So, Bugged Out with Justice and Erol was my goodbye night. I could not have asked for a better farewell night. I was with friends, but most of the night I was on my own in my territory behind the DJ booth. Good, good times! I do not think that any other club could have gathered so many good times. Salute.
Goodbye The End and thanks for the memories. (link)
So, I got invited to a screening of a new MTV show in which they film Pete Doherty during a 24 hour period. Of course, I could not decline this invitation. I got told that I would see Pete Doherty as I had never seen him before. Most people know about Pete because of the media covering a lot of his mostly druggy live or of him being an ex-Libertines member. For me it is the last one. Pete Doherty in 24 Hours is being broadcasted on MTV one on Sunday 25th January from 10pm and it is definitely a must see. It shows the funny, talented and mysterious side of Pete, and basically just him being him. The crew films him in his house outside Greater London and in Camden where he reunites with Carl Barat for an acoustic set as part of the London Fashion Week. I think he is a rather cool dude. F*ck the media blowing up his other side.
